Photographer’s Note
This is the view from Auckland City over to the North Shore. This is Northcote where the Auckland Harbour Bridge touches the land on the other side of the Waitemata Harbour. Look closely and you can just see the motorway right next to the water.
The sun is getting low in the sky, it was around 3pm, and I was quite captivated by the golden colours of the sky showing between the clouds. It had been such a dull day, and this golden glow was a very welcome sight.
I use Paint Shop Pro 9 and I auto-enhanced the photo and then saturated it a few more times to get the gold glow more golden. I also cropped it to get it more centred with the gap in the clouds.
This is a similar photo to one I have posted on TE. Similar, but diffferent.

Nice shot Janice! With the unusual clouds it took me a while to figure out what I was looking at - but the light is great and way the clouds frame the city is wonderful. Well done!

Hi Janice - this is highly artistic and original, somewhere between B&W and sepia, with a spectacular sky.

Amazing sky, almost looks like smoke on that patch on the upper right. Great composition. I like the cropping down here as well, really gives the photo an appropriate look/style. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Janice,
Very impressive sky threatening the village. It almost look like a B&W photo and the result was great. Good frame too.

Kia ora Jancie,
wow what a dramatic sky. The whole picture is in metal colors, between gold, silver and lead. Cropping and framing is also fitting to the shot. Thanks for showing us your home.
Kind regards,
Roland
