Photographer's Note
Summer arrived in Auckland this weekend!!
Well I hope these lovely, hot sunny days stay, but maybe I’m being a bit optimistic that the cooler weather won’t come back!
But on Sunday everyone was out celebrating the sunny weather. We walked along Milford Beach to Takapuna, on the North Shore of Auckland. When the tide is low, like it was then, you can walk between the two beaches, and it takes around an hour each way, depends how fast or slow you walk.
Part of the route, between Milford and Takapuna Beach, follows the foreshore and crosses private property thanks to the owners' goodwill.
We had a really pleasant afternoon, and it seems that many of the other walkers did too. There were also quite a few people swimming as well. Not me though!!

Hello Janice
You are wrong ;). There is just the end of summer. Days are shorter and these days are the last warm days in the year, I guess...
Nice capture of the beggining of the new year`s season with walking people.

A nice place Janice - and while your summer is just beginning ours has ended. This morning I had to put the heat on in the car for the first time in months!
I like the view here, in fact it reminds of the beach near where I live in Dublin. the spring colours are pleasant too, oh well only another 4 or 5 months until we get that again in the northern hemisphere...

If summer's arrived in NZ, perhaps you could send some across the Tasman to Victoria...
Nice simple shot of the low-tide beach. Looks fairly busy!

Hi Janice. Good for you, glad to see the arrival of this friendly and bright weather in your neck of the woods. This is a nice wide impression from the beach with a good choice of panoramic crop, and a lively impression conveyed by the distribution of people across the scene. Pleasant photo.

Nice capture of a typical Auckland scene - although as you say, this one has a real feeling of summer to it, definitely not what you'd expect in September!
I hope they were all wearing sunblock ... the ozone hole was drifting overhead at the time!

Hi Janice. That maybe so in the north but here in the Manawatu we seem to be stuck with murky grey skies. Your photo is a bit of a tease of things to come, hopefully. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Janice,
Here in Brittany, it's the end of the summer. I enjoy theses "mid-seasons" to walk in the fields or along the beaches like the people in your photo.
The "ambiance" of the first sunny days is very well caught on your photo.

Hallo Janice!
I have to answer "summer has gone in Germany...". Your picture shows in a good way many relaxed people, enjoying the sun. Especially the light is exceptional in this photo and it becomes much more beautiful when I look out of my window here: storm and "horizontal" rain, 10°C. I am a bit envious ... but only a bit! ;-)
Greetings!

Hi Janice. I hadn't looked in your gallery for a while. This one and several others caught my eye. The beauty of this one to me is the combination of clarity and perspective combined with the sharply rendered people who seem almost three dimensional. You captured well that first feeling of summer being in the air. Nicely cropped, too. Funny thing is, our summer seemed to start a few weekends ago, but then last week we had an astonishing cold snap with snow in various places up as far as Queensland.

Andrew
