Photographer’s Note
Funnily, this image brought me back to my younger days when playing a good old game off footy on a early saturday morning in terrible playing conditions. After taking this capture I watched these younger lads play and to be honest, I can now see why they are better at Rugby than footy (Although the English are pretty bad at football themselves!!)
Taken at the Auckland domain where we have been engulfed by fog all day.

I can imagine the goalkeeper trying to stop a quick attack from the opposite side!
I like your shot and the goog light control. Well done.

Hi Jim. And no aircraft flying today either! More children play football (soccer) than rugby but somehow they all change to rugby later. Great photo, excellent framing and lovely mood. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Paul.
PS Go the AB’s. ;-)

Hi Jim,
Well that's better than the fog filter in Nik Efex Pro.
Nice shot, although I'm thinking it must have been bloody cold to go with it.
Let's see if we can beat the French tonight, maybe a bit of fog will help us.

Wow wow wow, Jim! That's striking! I love the POV, the softness of the texture with the fog, the delicate hues, the strong minimalist effect and your choice of framing is perfect! Excellent!

hello Jim,
This is a great shot, very photographical (haha!). I like the heavy frame here, as it accentuates the minimalism of the composition. The fog adds drama and beauty to a quiet afternoon of amateur footie.
This makes a great addition to my "beautiful game". I hope you don't mind, if I add it.

Ciao Jim!
Hai costruito una immaggine davvero interessante! Mi piace l'essenzialità della grafica e il paesaggio che si intuisce intorno alla nebbiolina. Veramente un bel quadro! Bravo!
Saluti, Nino.

hi Jim,
a great atmosphere from your picture thanks to the fog on the football ground. The youngs are brave to play under this weather conditions... but it must be fun too.
Good POV, composition and frame.

Hello Jim! You really returned with fantastic "material" and it is hard to choose which one to comment. I do love fog although in some ways it is sometimes a nuisance where I live when the fog does not want to move for sometimes days or even weeks in fall. Love your idea to include the goal with the distant players in the back and the fading trees that you can hardly see but just a little. Very attractive photo, excellent job. Best regards, Barbara.

Great capturing of the foggy scene Jim and with very good composition by including the slope and trees.
It reminds me of when I was playing hockey once in the snow at Walcha ( NSW northern tablelands) I was the goalie and couldn't even see the half way line.

Hello Jim,
Although there isn't too much footballing detail to appreciate, your composition and gentle hues are are a learning experience for many who think they can only photograph on a bright sunny day.
Best wishes,
Bev :-)

Hi Jim,
Minimalist in the graphics, light and colours, but soooo beautiful... and very effective... a real catcher! I was wondering why they had little poles in the field because I never thought that someone would be playing with that weather.

Hi Jim.
After reading your comment, I just had to say that it also reminds me of exactly the same thing - the 9.00am start to a Saturday footy match. In my case, it was an Australian Rules game. But in those days the fogs and frosts were common in winter and I remember occasionally playing with thick frost crunching beneath the boots.
Very simple shot, but with hints of people, slopes, and trees in the fog behind the goals. Great crop and most appropriate frame.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Jim, long time no speak, I've been going Cold Turkey from TE for the last month on holidays in Italy (hard life and all that ...) Great shot, the positioning of the goals to the left is a great choice, the capture of the fog is excellent and the tiny people in the FG. This photo also makes a point. With this kind of dreadful weather, I'm left dumbfounded that ANYONE in NZ can brave that kind of weather just to play rugby (or photograph the players), let alone still be world champions at it. You get my points just for the Brass Monkeys, Lisa.

Hi Jim,
Somehow I miss this one but did see the later one. I like the minimalist composition, the misty foggy atmosphere make a wonderful refreshing iamge. It like playing in the cloud. I use to love watching people playing in this condition, the foggy that move with the players, especially in the evening with the light. Very cool. I like it. Hope to see you post more often. I know it's a really hard to get motivation with all the changes on this site. I was kind of less active for a little while but I'm somewhat back to normal and getting ready to make another short trip out to the canyon country again in a few weeks. Have a good day.

Hi Jim
Excellent work of framing, and composing the goal on the left.
The trees on the right add a nice touch, and the people add size perspective
overall a wonderful delight to look at
