Photographer’s Note

In the end of 19-s century New Zealand newspaper published colorful story about sudden attack on Auckland by ruthless Russians who came there on board of powerful cruiser and after terrorized city for a few days disappeared in Pacific infinity the same mysterious way they just came here. The story was full of details and it made quite a big impression on public imagination of young colony. In fact the story itself was fiction from the first to the last words, but impression was so big it pushed government of New Zealand to start build new powerful fortress atop of volcanic North Head which overlooks Auckland harbor from the north. In a short time fort was built and armed with a good British canons. Remains of this military facility could be seen there almost in a same condition as it was hundred years ago. I quite like that palace. It is easily accessible and provides one of the best views on central city you can even imagine. There are a lot of underground pass ways, old weaponry different sizes and types and 180 degrees view on harbor, islands, volcanoes and city. once you are in Auckland don't miss the opportunity to see that place.
