Photographer’s Note

MANA ISLAND, FIJI

Here I am cruising out through the beautiful Mamanuca Islands to Mana Island, 32 km west
Of Nadi International Airport. This is where we stayed for 6 nights.

Soon I will be going past the island headland on the left and sailing through the lagoon before I step ashore to enjoy an exciting week here on this wonderful island, Mana.

Mana Island is an extensive resort with three separate beach areas, crystal clear waters, lots of shady palms and poolside bars and lounges, so it's not hard to find your own idyllic spot.

On the lagoon side enjoy snorkelling and a range of great watersport activities. Laze on the quieter North Beach with its beautiful views out over uninhabited islands or soak up the sun on Sunset Beach.
There is a semi-submersible vessel to view the fish life and coral and explore the reefs of the lagoon on a Subsea Adventure. Taste the delights of our barbecue and salad buffet lunch.

Mana Island offers you the choice - create your own day in Paradise and do it all or do absolutely nothing at all!

My husband and I had a wonderful holiday there last year, and we can’t wait to go back again. . .

Hi Janice. Really nice colors in your photo. I really like the placement of the island in the bottom 3rd of the frame. It keeps the photo interesting. Beautiful.

amazing shot, janice! :-)
there is the ocean and the sky and inbetween this small strip of green land - perfect 1/3:2/3 composition.
my wife always says: "let´s move to fiji",
as she does not really like it here in cologne.
so, good to see fiji and how beautiful it is.

Your cruise is enviable! I´ve been in Namenalala (Koro's Sea) and I'm wondering how nice are the Mamanucas!
The picuture reminds me Namenalala a lot and it's very nice to see it! TFS!

Hi Janice, I missed this shot from a couple of weeks ago. A great viewpoint of this place (a place I've visited of course!). The colours really look great, good contrast between the blue & green here. The low horizon is good here too.

With the NZ winter, I'm not at all surprised that you want to go back here! I guess it's all the cold weather that makes us think of nice, warm places. Right now, my thoughts are of the US: I wouldn't mind being there right now... Ahhhh, warmth!
It would have been easy for you to crop this pic back to the 'rule of thirds' standard but I'm glad you didn't. I feel that the extra clear sky at the top adds so much to this nicely composed pic. Your colours are great, the light is good, and the image quality is excellent.

Hello Janice,
I sailed a boat past this island, and also Castaway, Honeymoon, beachcomber and Malolo. The weather was remarkable, unlike the foul New Zealand barrage encountered on my visits :)! Excellent framing here, good uses of ratios. There seems to be some sort of disturbance of blue squares in the right most section of the island, but possibly this is just the result of compression. A good image, with many memories for me.
