Photographer’s Note

Continuing on from my trip to the south pacific.
This was taken in the yasawa islands of fiji. The yasawa islands are for me the most beautiful place in fiji as they are absolutely stunning & very relaxing.
The island's are great for snorkelling, hiking, village tours.kayaking, swimming, volleyball with the locals,or just chilling out in a hammock, meeting the real friendly fijian people as it is very cultural & traditional in these island's as most of the resorts are run & or owned by people from the local villages from the island. The staff @ these islands organise for cultural shows usually at night @ a meke (which is like a buffet selection of food such as fish & pork which is cooked in the ground for many hours)at these cultural shows they tell of the past through there dancing & singing.
Ok now about the pic,This was taken from above the island i was staying on,it was a 20 minute walk up a steep mountain side, then 20 minute walk along a sloping ridge to this view of the neighboring island known as manta ray island. The island becomes alive with manta rays at the right time of year in which you can snorkel with as they dont have any barbs.
The photo was quite tricky to get as the sky was bright & getting to this position required hiking through head high grass as it had not been trimmed since the floods which had recently occured.
Next time i go back i will take a torch to get some sunrise & sunset pics as it would be absolutely amazing up there for the golden hour.
Regards brad
