Photographer’s Note
This is the artist colony of Montsalvat in Melbourne's outer suburb of Eltham. It is like a French village, with buildings made of local stone, with slate roofs, and quiet gardens around them. It is open to the public (but not free), and usually has one or two art exhibitions on. You can wander around the gardens and through several of the buildings.
Scanned from a slide. This photo was manipulated in Photoshop. First I started with a large scale image. I brightened up the darkest parts of the photo. Next I applied the Poster Edges filter, then I reduced it down to 800 pixels wide. The effect gives a stronger texture to the photo than the original. I don't know if this is too much manipulation for Trek Earth, but I like the effect.
