Photographer’s Note
Alice Springs is a town in the heart of Australia. It is surrounded by hundreds of thousands of square miles of the Central Australian Desert. Many of the residents are aboriginal Australians This man was part of a group that were drinking hooch in a side street. They had come into town from a settlement in the desert. They welcomed me because I am Irish and their priest and the nuns, who help them are Irish. They came to town for fun, they said, by that I understood that they meant, to drink alcohol, because alcohol is illegal in the aboriginal communities.Sleeping on the pavements, drunk, dirty and desolate that made a pathetic picture. The Australian government and people try hard to help them, but they have suffered much since European colonialization of their country. It is sad to think that this man belongs to one of the most ancient civilizations on the face of the earth.

Bonsoir Kévin,
Cette photo me fait penser à Klaus Kinski dans le superbe film de Werner Herzog : Aguirre, la colère de Dieu.
Bon weekend

It is an excellent portrait with a fantastic light and very sharp. Your note tells about a sad story unfortunately, common in all former British colonies. The only minor thing is that the DOF seems a bit odd.

Hello Kevin
For a split second, I thought you've taken the portrait of A.Schwarzenegger acting as a prisoner ;)
You've caught a strong expression! Without reading your note I could read on the man face all the suffering, he and his people have been going through!!Not so many of the natives are left! I wonder how the government is pretending to help them?
Cheers

Bonsoir, cher ami Kevin,

Hi Kevin!
Great portrait for such a sad note! You captured his expression very well and I like the detail on his cap. Guess it's not very common to see their photos here. Well framed with good light.
