While hiking down lonely Mount Franklin Gorge in Western Victoria, I came upon an old cow skull atop a rotting fence post.
The first thing that flashed into my mind were ancient ritualistic cults and their gruesome blood sacrifices. Mostly because the gorge was so quiet and had such a lost-in-time feeling to it, as much as the skull itself I think.
It was probably just found and propped up there by another curious hiker. Still, it made my heart race for a few seconds.
