Photographer’s Note
Wilandra is a outback sheep station of several square kilometers in size. It is about 1050km north of Melbourne and the sunsets are spectacular.
The station is in NSW. In fact you turn off (left => north) of the Barrier Hwy (32) about 50km before you get to Wilcannia and travel 50km on dirt road to the station. I still had it marked on my Google Earth. Here are the co-ordinates: 31deg. 16'47.3" and 142deg. 3'20, 4" E. The windmill is close to a water reservoir to the shearer’s station, but I can't find it (the windmill) on Google Earth map. Well I'll guess they don't want Bin Laden to know where the windmill is.

Hi Helmut,
I suppose you will hear your windmill is too centred, but I think the black foreground and black windmill contrast very well with a spectacular orange sky.

hello Helmut,
you're right, the sunset here is spectacular, the fiery colours create quite a drama. the black silhouette works well to add focus point, but I'd try less centered composition. other than that - nice work.

Spectacular, indeed, Helmut. 1/2 sec allowed some movement for the windmill. If the compo was not way too centered, it was perfect.

Beauitiful picture. The different shades of red with the silhouette looks enchanting. Bu I feel cropping a little more of the black portion at the bottom would have been even better. Great shot.

Hi Helmut.
Could be a great shot. The idea was a good one, and the sky looks magnificent. Two suggestions: yes, as one other has said, I think the windmill should be more to one side; also, the horizon should be lower, there's a bit too much black at the bottom of the photo and not quite enough sky above the top of the windmill. Just my opinion. I still like this striking silhouette shot.
Just one point - the station could not be in Victoria if it were really 1050km from Melbourne. It is north of Broken Hill, which is in New South Wales.
Regards,
Andrew
