Photographer’s Note
The Great Ocean Road. Picture 1. Apollo Beach marks the spot where the Great Ocean Road joins the coast. From here the road follows the rugged coastline for over 200 miles. The big waves that roll in from the Southern Ocean make this a popular surfing beach. Today, however, in the morning of an Australian winter's day only a few brave surfers were out. The foreground tree is not a pine, but a tree fern, indigenous to the the temperate rain forests of this region.

Hi Kevin
Lovely place and light, and as it seems the Xmas tree has been put in place already... the few people add a sense of excusivity to this fine beach, on the area where the cliff reflects over the wet sand there is additional potential for great closer shots.
Have a nice day JY

Kevin,
This is a great shot of this beautiful beach. The angle of the shot creates a nice sense of direction and depth. The lone tree provides a nice point of interest in the foreground of the shot. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and DOF.

Hi Kevin!
I had never seen one of these trees on the beach. Seems a very nice beach, especially with only those two people and the little dog. Really nice photo with very good colours.
Thanks for the ws!

Hello Kevin,
A very nice composition with lovely warm colours. I like the point of view; the tree is well placed and acts as an anchor point as well as balancing the rest of the scene.

A pretty landscape, not usual from you, Kevin. Excellent diagonal and beautiful golden tones on the cliffs, which are nicely reflected on the wet sand. The presence of the surfers are, of course, a fine bonus.

hello Kein
the beautiful light gives some wonderful golden tones to the cliffs! This lonely tree is a litle bit strange on a beach,I thought that we found this kind of tree in the mountains!I don't know if the waves are big enough to practise surf, but the surfers give animation to the compo!I think that the sharpness could be better but anyway, this is a nice picture!
Have a nice evening!
