Photographer’s Note
This shot was taken on our tour of Uluru at Sunset. Unfortunately as the sun set behind me, it dipped behind a dark band of clouds on the horizon and hundreds of people who came by coach and shuttle buses, or in their own vehicles, were most disappointed. I was lucky in one respect, I booked two tours- one for a sunrise experience, one for the sunset. I thought I had better maximize my chances. My previous shot of Uluru was at sunrise. I did manage to get a few good shots (like this one) before the sun became obstructed by the cloud band on the horizon. I do like the sense of timelessness here and the setting.

There have been a lot of boring photos of this subject. You have succeeded to capture an image that excites the imagination. With out the clouds and your great exposure this would have been another boring photo.
Cheers!

Hi Klaudio,
You had nice light and sky here with those wonderful clouds in the great wide expanse. Good clarity and nice natural colours for this famous rock.

Hi Klaudio,
You can be proud of your beautiful work on this landmark landscape. I just love the strong shadows, where you can feel the presence of the clouds in the air, and on the ground. It's sooo dramatic. The light is fantastic and I don't think you should feel disappointed.
I guess it's a question of personal taste, but since I'm only beginning to be interested by landscapes, I'm looking at hundreds of professional galleries, and a lot of top pros do play with these shadows, that personalize their shot. Also, the shadow is at the base of your frame, so it's really not bad. Of course, if the space would be half less in shadow, it would have been the best possible condition.
But look at these clouds!! Every photographers dream of being able to shoot this mythic mountain under such "embellishing" natural elements. At least, the bus load of tourists didn't installed their tripod in front of you...
Cheers!

Hi Klaudio,
Another "gem" from you. The light on the rock is very beautiful and I like the wide angle you have used.
It is a very photogenic place and you have captured the timelessness of the atmosphere perfectly.
Superb image, congratulations.

Hello Klaudio,
This sunset photo of the rock is fantastic as well. The atmosphere is wonderful with the shadows and the clouds adding dramatics to the view. Very good light and colours. Good work! TFS.

Hello Kaludio,
after reading your note I looked at your previous posts and I had not known that this famous mountain has its bright colour only under special light circumstances. (Great to know before going there :-}, though I can hardly ever get there.)
Your shot is really beautiful. Perhaps you did not get as red colour as in the sunrise shot, the sky is wonderful and makes the picture much more interesting.
Best regards from Czech Republic

Hi Klaudio
I can't believe you're complaining here. Having all these clouds is so much more interesting than having none at all and the light is stunning. We had the band of clouds hiding the sun and it was empty in front. However, I bet the view of the setting sun with the band of clouds was brilliant - you can get an idea from my Olgas photo.
Yet again, the photo wasn't taken in Alice Springs...

Hi Klaudio.
Even better than the previous shot of the rock. This one has the added beauty of the sky, and the partial eclipse of the rock by the clouds' shadows, although it lacks the long shadows of the other. The light is extraordinary. Perhaps I would have cropped a little off the bottom of the shot, although I can see the plus side of the red earth and tangled grasses. Very well done.

Andrew

Dragi Dado, prijatelju,
Branko

Hello Klaudio,
There is a sense of mystery and intense solitude. The immense outcropping must be virtually unique in the world for its size. Your note is useful for those who might make similar trips to the site.
Warm regards, Klaudio. Have a good week.

Hello Klaudio,
I can imagine what kind of stress you underwent when you started to realize that the sun would block Ayer's rock. nevertheless in this case, perhaps short, you got splendid clouds which show the place differently than with a blue blue sky. What I don't understand here, is that there must be a road all around the rock ) (A long one probably ) which allows you to take pictures at sunset and sunrise, is that right ?
Keep well my friend - Izzet

Hello Klaudio
The play of shade & sunlight on this landmark stone is amazing. I appreciate the FG of bushes, which lead us to the giant outcrop. The clouds are amazing as well. Beautiful colours & light in this lovely shot...well done!

Beautiful shot. Strong contrasting colors. I love it. 'Unfortunately' isn't the word here. 'Excellent' is more like it. Congratulations, Klaudio!

Great photo Klaudio. Love the framing of this photo. Perhaps a slightly darker exposure of the rock itself would have been benificial although this would have made it difficult to get such great lighting in the Sky and Foreground, which really makes the shot.
Perhaps a second exposure and layered HDR shot would be worth considering.
