Photographer’s Note

This another picture taken in Western Australia during a wonderful weekend spent in Exmouth due to the lack of bed space on board of the offshore drilling platform where I was working at the time. It was a day of spectacular skies. Please enjoy the picture as much as I did while taken it.

North West Cape is a large peninsula of land in the north west coast of Western Australia. Along the western edge of the peninsula runs down Cape Range which consists of spectacular rugged limestone ranges and breathtaking deep canyons.

Driving along the only road is unbelieving experience. The red soil is doted by innumerous bunches of spinifex and hundreds of ant mounds can be seen up to the horizon. On the western shore are kilometers of white sandy beaches edged by the fringing coral of the Ningaloo Reef, the only reef in the world on the west side of a continent.

The only town on the peninsula is Exmouth (pop. 3,500), born in 1967 as a support town to the Harold E. Holt Naval Communications Station, a joint Australian-United States center.

Another important landmark on the North West Cape peninsula is the Vlaming Head Lighthouse built in 1912 as a direct result of the wrecking in 1907 of the cattle ship SS Mildura.

gosto muito desta fotografia que nos mostras aqui. gosto pela sua simplicidade e pelas cores do ceu. o azul escuro que se converte em azul clarinho com as nuvens pelo meio resulta num bom efeito. quanto a vegetacao esta tambem gira. faz-me lembrar as dunas da murtosa. parabens

Estas nuvens são as que chamamos "rabos-de-galo" por aqui, e não gostamos muito de vê-las, apesar de bonitas. É que os rabos-de-galo prenunciam ventos fortes, geralmente originando mudança de tempo. Todavia, a sua beleza no céu é flagrante e você os capturou muito bem, dedicando-lhes o merecido espaço no enquadramento que ainda prestigia uma vegetação parelha e bastante suave.

Que coincidência, meu último "post" também foi para mostrar um céu que achei muito bonito. O "teu" está lindíssimo e o padrão das nuvens está bastante especial, não se vê com freqüência, foi bom teres registrado o "acontecimento". el color del cielo es fantástico y está muy bien polarizado, además de su espléndida decoración de nubes que crean bonitos dibujos en el cielo.
Eso da a la composición un gran grafismo, y un buen contraste con el paisaje sin árboles, muy bajo en tu encuadre.

Hello Antonio,

I like the extraordinary sky you've captured, and presented with a superb note. The "big sky" that you sometimes see in the wide open spaces of Australia and the American West really do have special qualities and are easily recognizable. In the Eastern United States one would never see a sky like this.

Hello Antonio,
thanks for visiting my post and like the pink water liles. With reference to your question, here in Malaysia we plant rice twice a year.
As for the shot above, yes it such a lovely sky. the clouds is unique and veey dramatic and it looks like a feather. But I love the field grass more, with the white flowers and it seems like being blown by the wind making it swaying and forming some sort like waves. Wonderful light control and great composition of heaven and earth.

Pues es verdad, el cielo es realmente bello, ademas me gusta el POV que aunque parezca facil, hay que tener buen gusto, la prioridad del cielo con un trozo de tierra mas que suficiente para ver el lugar...el cielo es el protagonista.

un superbe ciel aux nuages filamenteux, très bien capturés et qui rendent beaucoup de contraste sur le bleu intense du ciel derrière lui.

Nice capture, Antonio. I love the cloud and the "big sky" feel to it. The shot worked out well despite the small aperature, but if you want to capture more foreground next time, you should probably consider a smaller aperature (f/8 or f/11).

I was going to look at the Singapore shot, but this one caught my eye! It's an unusual sort of shot, with the ground being rather dull and devoid of light and shade. Maybe you lightened it in photoshop or something. Anyway, I quite like the effect, in showing such a flat horizon very low in the frame under that amazing sky. The sense of vastness and emptiness is certainly enhanced. The cloud formation is stunning, with the effect of the CPL. Terrific shot of this part of Australia, which I haven't yet been to.
