This group of small islands are in the Norfolk Island National Park on the opposite side of the island to the main settlements. They are quite interesting with tiny lakes and natural tunnels. Norfolk Island was uninhabited prior to European settlement although evidence has been found of earlier Polynesian visits.
Captain Cook was probably the first European to visit Norfolk Island in 1774. He thought that the local pines would be great for ships masts - that proved to be very wrong. He landed near these islands. |
