Photographer’s Note
It was 'the in-between hour' when I took this shot of the Bathurst Point Lighthouse, on Western Australia's Rottnest Island: an almost-full moon was sinking in the northwest, as the first light of dawn rose to the east. This automatic electric lighthouse was built in 1900 from local limestone, as a result of shipwrecks around Rottnest Island, culminating in the the "City of York" disaster in 1899. The lighthouse keeper's cottage is now used by staff of the Rottnest Island Board.

Great use of the filter to diffuse the light as it endters the lens. Excellent POV and sharpness. Perfect F-stop. I would consider a little post shot processing with Photoshop to perhaps adjust the contrast and both the blue and yellow colors, but great photo regardless.

Hi Jeff,
Rotto never looked this good. Fantastic stuff, I'm going to have to make a trip over so you can show me how to do this. Probably pick it up in an hour or so, eh!!
Wonderful capture.

Hi Jeff.
What a beauty!
I have Nik too, and it can produce some great results if used judiciously. Here, you have got a great result. The light does look strange, but it is very evocative of dawn, and quite intriguing in this composition. I think it is great the way you included the sea on the right side; it really adds depth to the shot. The house is sharply defined and the cropping very effective. I wonder if you considered going a step further and cropping the sun (I presume it's the sun, but with a 5 second exposure might it be the moon?) out altogether. I scrolled the shot so it was just cut off under the sun, and I think it still looks good.
After dozens of trips to Perth (latest one only a week ago) I still haven't been to Rottnest Island.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Jeff. A real stunner for a number of reasons. For me, primarily it's the eerie light, warm yet tinged with darkness. The golden dabs of light on the building itself and emanating from the lighthouse itself add to the magic. The element of remoteness has been conveyed by the hint of the sea on the right and the elevated POV. All in all, a masterful execution. Bravo. Klaudio.

Hi Jeff,
I quite like this composition. It can broadly be divided in to two sections; the sky is doing its own thing with what appears to be the moon and the sun is lighting up the buildings. Its agreat combination and you've done really well with the filter application; although I dont know what filters have been applied here. Nevertheless, its a nice shot and a treat.
Thanks for sharing
