On my recent trip to far north Queensland (see other photos at in the Wooroonooran National Park folder) I walked around the beautiful Lake Eacham which is in the Crater Lakes National Park, part of the Queensland Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. The park is in the Atherton Tablelands inland from Cairns. As the park name suggests the lake (along with the nearby Lake Barrine) is an ancient flooded volcanic crater.
Much of the walk is within the rainforest which comes down to the edge of the lake but at one spot I saw this scene through a gap in the vegetation - hanging vines, rain forest with plenty of palms and lots of reflections. |
