I had the pleasure of being in the company of Alfred a TE member (alftrek) for two days while he was in Melbourne, first day we spent walking around the city, on the second day we drove up to Kinglake National Park which is approx. 60KM North East of Melbourne. Having lived in the area previously I knew that this time of year (winter) the Rosellas would be plentiful & they did not disappoint.

The Crimson Rosella prefers humid forests on the eastern coast from Victoria to Northern Queensland, but can also be found in rainforests, dense eucalyptus forests and timbered watercourses. They have also been introduced to Norfolk Island and New Zealand.

Hi Santo, and I was surprised to see one at Yarra bend this afternoon when I was out on my bike. First time I've seen one there. Composition is good in this, with the subject(s) filling the frame, but enought in the BG to let us see the environment. The BG looks a bit more pale and unsaturate than I would have expected for that area though. cheers, Steve

Finally, we are even. Unfortunately this strange looking creature does not have the white hair and beard which would otherwise looks a lot more appealing. To get that you may have to wait for quite a while.

Technically, the shot is really good and I like the BG which fade away without any distracting glare. The sharpness of the subject is incredible. You have captured it at the moment when the bird is staring at the camera. Well done.

Best wishes
Alfred

Hey again Santo,

A great colorful and detailed Platycercus elegans, it`s well focused and a fine sight to behold, the nearby Homo sapiens sapiens is a fine detail, with - obviously - a good taste for camera brand. :D

Best regards.

hi Santo

Obviously portrait composition now comes easy for you after your few posts of tattoo and now this one. Finally I can see Alfred through your post, although he does look like a bit thinner. The colorful bird with its tail blue blends nicely with the winter jacket, and the face looking to the bird is a good pose angle for your capture. Good DOF, although I still recommend that you paste camera settings onto Note as appendix.

Hi Santo,
Your friend appears to be very pleased with the brilliantly colored bird that you have so graciously introduced him to.
The rich saturated colors stand out brilliantly and are seen in sharp detail.
Regards, Tom

Hello Santo,

This is a fine double portrait, showing a proud photographer and a majestic bird!
The DoF works well to isolate the subjects, great colours and amazingly sharp details...
A well balanced composition, with a good eye to eye diagonal!

Hi Santo
Nice to see a Nikoniste in company with one of my favourite friends. Very well balanced photo, Alfred looks as photogenic as the Rosella and I like the fact that it's eating. Good bokeh too to help bring out the colours.
Regards
Nikki
