Photographer’s Note

The movie Sex and the City took almost 9.5 million dollars over the weekend in Australia. The biggest opening for a romantic movie Down Under. Showing at 452 screens around Australia it raked in $9,498,751 during the Queens Birthday Weekend, Monday being a public holiday.
I wasn't until later that I noticed the sign advertising the film.

Another view of Melbourne's Skyline from the south bank of the Yarra River.
Most noticeable being Princess Bridge & the Rialto building on the far left.

Hi Santo,
It's great to see all the city lights in different colours without overexposure. And it all reflects on still river water. Incredibly well exposed and framed.
Sex and the City is heavily advertised in Finland too. Hooray for consumerism :(

Etonnante vue sur cette ville illuminée. J'aime beaucoup tout les spots de lumière qui créent de très beaux points d'interêt. L'image est un peu sombre et aurait mérité une prise de vue un peu plus tôt dans la soirée.

Oh, I see the sign. You really need to pay good attention to that one.
A nice city landscape. I might have exposed it a little longer, but it is a nice composition!

Publicity was well made and the subject interests many people, from where enormous success. The advertizing on the photograph is not obvious, but one ends up finding it. It is a very beautiful night image, very clear and detailed. Cheer.

First when I saw this photo I thought why the name of this is "Sex and the City". (I can see the city but where is sex? =) Well, now I understand because I noticed that sign.

So, something about this photo. Technically this is really good and your camera settings was exactly right when you took this. Colours, composition and all those beautiful lights together makes this photo really pleasant to look at.

Princess Bridge and Rialto building? Why not the other way around? Oh yes, right! This is down under and not Venice, Italy.
Funny the title of this movie in connection with the image, but you might have your point in showing a certain similarity with NYC.
So were you one of those many people that contributed for the 9.5 million? I hope not! I hope that you preferred to get out there and do some night photography ...

Hello Santo,
Another well executed night shot with perfect sharpness and reflection, so I assume this must be an after dusk or late night shot when the water is so still. At this hour, you managed to have slightly illuminated sky which is good. I would prefer a shot at dusk when the sky is still a little brighter, but then you may not get a perfect reflection like here. This is a personal preference. I like your series of night photography.

Good shot from your series of night scene at this river and not easy for a night exposure when you really wonder to use how many seconds of shutter by trial and error. I can see f/11 for you to give DOF and sharpness image, and the lights are well lit. Perhaps I would comment on much of the darker area that lost details and this is where longer exposure of different hour of capture can help, eg after sunset, or before sunrise. But we all shot differently and that is what makes photography interesting.

What I like best is the reflection on the water in this shot, very still and perfect mirror.

Great nocturnal image and excellent sharpness and confusion in the image gets cleared when you spot the bridge and then the reflection every thing was put into place...

You play completely on the advertisement to the right above, this is a nice idea for the title.
The enlightenment of the city is excellent and very good for a night picture.
Also the reflections give a nice composition, very pleasant for look it.

A great shot, with the perfect exposition, it creates quite a mirror effect on the water. The whole thing is sharp and clean, as per usual.

I see you like a lot going to bed late, isn't it?. Nice compo, but five more seconds of exposure time and it would have been a most impressive photograph than it is now. Try it in your next late night escape :)
