Photographer’s Note
With the advent of winter in the southern hemisphere, these Crimson Rosellas can be found literally almost everywhere. They can be seen in the backyard and here - the Kinglake National Park which is about 40mins north east of Melbourne CBD. These native birds are well acquainted with visitors whose mere presence is enough to lure them to within a few metres away, hoping to be fed.
On this occasion, they are given a share of the potato chips, and they even dare to get it straight from the mouth while another is waiting for his turn with sharp claws firmly gripped onto the slippery head. Moments later, his ear was mistakenly pecked and twisted as a piece of potato chips!
A close up view of the bird is also posted in the Workshop. Hope you like it.

Hello Alfred, Excellent shot of these colourful & friendly native birds, I like the blurred gum trees in BG showing their environment. I wonder if it would have been at all possible to use a soft focus on the ugly old guy. On second thoughts he is not ugly he just could do with a shave. By the way the ear was sore all night.
Thanks
Santo
PS the close up is a beauty.

Hello Alfred, this is a great portrait of this very Aussie looking bloke, with the two Rosellas. The birds are very well posed and you've captured their bright colours very well. The guy looks familiar somehow, was he in a Harley-Davidson advertisement from some time back..? Great capture in the workshop too.
Thanks, John

I like the balance of life here between man and birds. He is outnumbered 2 to 1, and I pity the pinned down on the head which could be protected by a cap but then the photo would not look as interesting as this one. Very good capture of the moment with good sharpness and color contrast. Kissing a bird vs pecking a chip off the mouth, nice view. Good to see this bearded guy looking so calm, skippy-doo. TFS

Hello Alfred. Interesting to see birds as beautiful as this are so timid with visitors. This is a very nice capture and the intimacy is well written in the composition. Clean shot with excellent sharpness and detail. Well done and best regards. Jusni
