Photographer’s Note
If my memory serves me right, this area along the Yarra River, popularly known as the South Bank was rather unattractive in the early 80's. My impression then was a place dominated by old and somewhat dull buildings. But today it is completely different, a rejuvenated urban area visited by almost every visitor to Melbourne. It is here that you find the Crown Casino and of course, the tallest building in the southern hemisphere and the 2nd tallest residential building in the world -- the 91-Storeyed Eureka Tower. It has 24 carat (100%) gold plated glass windows on the top 10 floors!
On this photo, it was taken on a fine winter(1st day of winter)afternoon with the sun behind me towards my right. A FL of 20mm resulted in some perspective distortion to the white spire(Art Gallery) and the Eureka Tower. I managed to correct this on the photoshop but have to crop out a bit on the rippled reflection in the FG.
Thanks for viewing and all critiques are welcome.
Regards
Alfred

Hello Alfred
Clean and crisp capture, the branches in the corner add to the composition and so does that bird I have just noticed.

Alfred,
Very nice cityscape of South Bank with beautiful radiant golden light, Very nice reflection on the water. Great sharpness and clarity, though you need nee the tree branch, but the inclusion of the it add a natural element to the image and make the composition even better. Colors and light are well balanced with adequate saturation and contrast. Well done. Cheers

Alfred, you've nailed it! This is beautiful work.
The perspective is a new one for me, I haven't seen the shot of the south Yarra from this angle. The composition is excellent with the Rowing Club buildings down the side along the river, the arts centre and the Eureka Tower so dominant in the background. The tree on the right makes a great right border and you caught the texture on that water perfectly. Colour is very good throughout, and you even caught a gull in flight to fill the gap between the Arts Centre and the Tower. Your shot is excellent, as is your PP. There is no distortion in the shot, and the sharpening is perfect. This has been very well prepared through plan and full execution. Awesome!
Thanks, John

Hi Alfred,
Your timing is perfect for capturing reflection on river surface. The skyscrapers, their chromatic colors creates good contrasts with few stories buildings at front. Great addition of river, part of tree branches and bridge. Congratulations.
Best Regards,

Hello Alfred. The architecture in the cityscape is well clustered with colorful homes on the river bank. The rifer with its reflection looks really stunning here with the bridge and spotless blue sky. Pleasant low angle composition in a very interesting perspective. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day. Jusni

This is a nice photo with a great POV over the new Melbourne area. The tree branches on the right give a good sense of depth and at the same time also add a good element in the composition. Well done.

Nice landscape composition of water and city skyline with good management of light condition. Using f/11 gives a good DOF especially tall highrises and tower and exposure has given to a nice balance of color tone. I am surprised that no reflection is tried on the water, perhaps due to ripples or too late in the day.
Overall, a great view.

Hey Alfred,
I`m glad you`ve had a productive photographic experience in Australia.
This one is very nice, with the perfect low POV, the branch as a natural frame, and of course the impressive view of Melbourne. Great PP work.
