Photographer’s Note
This is the stromatalites at Sharks Bay, they are considered a living fossil. They are belived to have been the original source of oxygen in the earths atmosphere and hence one of the most important steps in evolution. This is 1 on of only a handful of places where living stromatalites are found, there are lots in the fossil record but very few breathing examples.

There's no detail; maybe a lower position would have captured more foreground interest.

Geologically speaking the correct spelling is “stromatolite”. For the picture, it is an interesting one.
