A view of Southbank by the Yarra River taken from the Rialto Building. On the left you have the Eureka Tower and in the foreground the casino. In the background, near Port Phillip Bay, you can make out Albert Park Lake. It's here that the Formula One race is being held this weekend.

Une vue de Southbank au bord de la rivière Yarra depuis le Rialto. A droite la tour Eureka, au premier plan le Casino. Au fond près de la baie de Port Phillip, vous pouvez distinguer le lac d'Albert Park. C'est autour de ce lac que la course du Formule 1 a lieu ce weekend.

Very nice evening view. Sharpness is very good for hand-held shot.
Some barrel distortion correction would be good - I would prefer straight rather than curved horizon line.

Hola Nikki.

Es evidente que el skyline de Melbourne no es más que una copia del skyline de mi pueblo.
Pero no es momento de entrar en semejantes consideraciones.
Más importante es resaltar las cualidades de la foto. Tanto por lo que hace a su composición, como por lo que hace a su exposición son excelentes y ha resultado una foto mucho más que atractiva.

Great view over the city from a fantastic POV. I love to see the lights of the city in combination with the natural light too. Especially all the lights of the traffic are really nice to see from this high point. There is also a pleasant warm hue over the photo. Great photo work and thanks a lot for sharing!

Hi Nikki,

Pretty damn good for handheld, ISO 400. Many of these observation decks do not allow tripod use. I bet Rialto's decks profit margin has decreased since the taller Eureka has opened, but as many say the view is better from Rialto. I like this colourful view of the Southbank precinct. I like modern style of the Crown and the greenish building to the side. I like the strong saturation in this image and the superb DOF past Albert Lake and towards Port Phillip Bay in the background.

Bonjour Nikki,
beaucoup de profondeur dans cette photo et une ville qui n'en finit pas.
Le POV est ici l'élément qui t'a conduit à une aussi belle profondeur.
Les couleurs sont magnifiques.

I really like the tennis courts on the right bottom corner! The photo is superb with all those saturated colours and the POV from the Rialto Tower is simply the best in Melbourne. Well done.

not an easy one when I liik to the horizon lines, the pov is good and the details are nice what a depth in it, good photojob, have a nice weekend.

Amazing shot Nikki, you have packed in such a lot of interesting details and yet the shot is balanced and does not seem crowded. I like the way the road comes in from bottom left and continues up the middle to provide lead-in lines. Also like the way the shot is framed by the river at the bottom and the coast on top right. Nice one.

Hi Nikki,

A very striking photo, taken at just the right time to get the lights of the buildings and traffic, but also to see the horizon and the bay. The Rialto might be only the second highest building in Melbourne, but it is a great place to get a view of number one, the Eureka tower.

Hi Nikki.
Wonderful colour in this panoramic view of the south side of the Yarra, in the early evening. The lights are so well captured, and one can even see the reflections of trees in the lake. The colour tones and the saturation are excellent; you did a very good job without a tripod at that shutter speed with your VR lens. I must go up there one day and see it for myself. It's the sort of thing I never get around to until a friend comes from overseas.

G'Day Nikki,
Occupe a partir en vacances je n'avais pas vu celle ci, c'est plutot impressionant comme vue, je ne me rappelais pas Melbourne comme cela. La tour de gauche a l'air bien haute, pour le reste c'est un beau festival de lumieres et a la taille TE le bras d'acier de notre Iron Maiden n'a pas tremble ;-)

Comme c'était le cas à Hong Kong, tu as eu la chance d'avoir un ciel dégagé. Le résultat est une clarté d'image du début à la fin, avec un niveau de détails élevé.
