Rainforest falls Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is Rawson Falls, in Boorganna Naure Reserve near the town of Comboyne. The reserve is in the mountains of the north coast, and these falls plunge off the Comboyne Plateau into a gorge. Subtropical rainforest surrounds the area. There is a short walking track to the falls, through this wonderful forest. It was raining this day, so there was mist hanging around the cliffs.

Scanned from a slide, with some minor adjustment in Photoshop. The day was very dark and cloudy, which made it difficult to get a fast shot that would freeze the motion of the water, with ISO 100 film.

Hi Vincent,
It's green everywhere and suddenly from nowhere the stream of water comes out with all it's beuty. Lovely POV.

I like the layers and textures of the forest which has been wonderfully composed and presented. The waterfall on one side and what seems to be like a trapped cloud on the other make this a wonderful composition indeed.

Hi Vincent. Even after scanning the image from a slide seems to hold warmer and richer tones.Beautiful greenery and a graceful fall. Pity images do not come with a sound bite.very effective PoV. Regards. Klaudio.

It's difficult to believe that it was dark seeing this shot. You've managed to give it just the right amount of light to bring out the rich green of the stunning vegetation. It's so lush. The falls are impressive too. I guess this is the result of all the rain which has fallen in NSW. I prefer the falls this way and don't think a slower speed would have worked as well here.

The greenery looks fantastic, i think the water fall being a little blurred works fine overall a very picturesque and colourful scene.
