Photographer’s Note
View of central Melbourne from Eureka Tower public observation deck on 88th floor 285 meters above ground. At the bottom-right corner Princes Bridge over Yarra river. After the bridge - on the left is Flinders Street Station, on the right Federation Square.
Taken at 20:45 soon after sunset. As usual with this kind of places, the biggest problem was all kinds of lights inside the building reflecting on the glass. To avoid reflections I have placed camera at the corner of the window and tried to cover it from inside light with camera backpack.
Camera settings: 17 mm zoom, AV mode, ISO-200, 25 sec exposure, mirror lockup and remote release.
Converted from Raw with color temperature set to 6350K. Corrected barrel distortion.

Hi Linas,
This is a great shot. I really like the POV. I also like how the city and light seem to extend towards the horizon. The colours are good.
Kind Regards,

Beautiful shot - you have timed the light and your exposure perfectly. Very crisp and a nice vantage point that gives you a great look at the whole CBD. Nicely done!

This picture is very impressive. I like how you really look like you are in the city (and of course above it), not just shooting a panoramic shot. Tallest buildings look very sharp!

Hi Linas
You've succeeded so well to avoid the reflection here. Bravo. I only went up during the daytime and found it terrible. Besides, you can't take photos outdoors as the lenses can't fit through the wire. Anyway, all is so sharp and I like the way the lines of the streets add depth. Flinders Street Station and Federation Square look really good in the foreground.

The technical quality of this image is very, VERY good. Color and exposure are exceptional. This is a great time of evening to make a photograph of a city.
This picture reminds me a lot of pictures of Chicago, Illinois in the USA... though Melbourne is a lot smaller population wise. :)

Hi Linas
Excellent night photo with great lights all over the city. Thanks for the in detail information about the photo. I'm impressed of the many details on the buildings. It look like artificial creation from computer.
TFS - Regards
Chris
