Photographer’s Note
South from Anna Bay, Port Stephens, NSW, lies a vast sandy expanse called Stockton Beach. The beach is 32km in length and full of beauty, adventure, history and discovery. The wind-blown sand dunes cover an area of over 2,500 hectares and comprise the largest continuous mobile sand mass in New South Wales. They climb up to 30 metres high with slopes up to 60º. Sand boarders love this! 4WD drive tours along Stockton Beach are also available, showing beautiful views of the dunes, a trip to the Sygna shipwreck and the opportunity to have a go at sand boarding.
Have a look at the Map for a satellite view of Stockton Beach.

Hi Claudia, I like the way you've presented this, in the portrait format giving us that long expanse of sand. I'm surprised your depth of field is as good as it is, shooting at f3.5, but you've picked up great texture from the sand, and we still have very good visibility at the back of your shot. Exposure is good, giving us great light and colour throughout. I take some special interest in this shot. I have been looking at this particular location as somewhere I might want to visit for a weekend. You may have just sold me on it.
Thanks, John

Nice POV. I like your composition mainly focusing on the sand and including the people on the top. Regards, Yvonne

Hi Claudia,
Very nice picture. The marks on the sand create a graphical atmosphere and drive us to the people top of the dunes. I like too the uniform gray colours of the sky that contrast with the clear colours of the sand. Anyway I think you should have put peoples somewhere else on the photo. Two reasons : first, it looks like they have no space and hurt the border of the picture. Secondly, the natural way for western people to read is from left to right so I think it would have been better to put the people on the left, going to the right ;)
Regards,
Olivier
