Sydney is a very special city. And at the time of year when I visited it, it surely is full of vibrant colors. I have chosen that particular place for capture because it is possible to see the whole city from the same altitude - something that is far not always possible for different parts of the Earth.

My goal with this shot was to create a colorful image of Sydney, something that would represent the whole city in general and its colors. Some image that would strikingly remind me of this unusual place and the days I spent there.

Technical remark: no "film cutting" was employed here, the image is 100% real. My major interference was in the field of color management, but the original color palette is preserved untouched - I worked with saturation and color balance only.

Dramatic picture indeed. But the big dark bands at the bottom and top are unnecessary and distracting. Why not just cut them out?
All the best,
John

I like a lot the contrast between the saturated yellow and blue, it plays nicely with the contrast between nature and city. and I also quite like gradual darkening of the sky, it creates a feeling of open space, just have to add some stars :) very, very nice shot, my compliments.
best,
Kristine

Hello Anton,
This is beautiful combination of cityscape and open space. I like the unique POV and use of yellow color in the foreground. The skyline is so prefectly horizontal that I think the black border on the top and bottom compliments it well.

ery original layered composition. I love the color contrast here. Regards, Yvonne

Hi,

This is indeed an interesting shoot. The contrast is quite astonish. I agree with jstewart. Perhaps you should cut the black bands in top and bottom. Perhaps a little of the sky could be also good to cut, thus centering more the image given the focus to the building. Just an idea... Cheers

Hi Anton,
This is certainly the first such view of Sydney I've seen on TE.......not an easy feat to capture something unique in one of the world's major cities. The success of this image is the inlcusion of the yellow field which provides great contrast to the blue sky and line of buildings. Well captured.
Cheers Grant

Hello Anton,

I like that when you look at this photo on an LCD screen from a lower angle it looks very dark, and when you look at it from above it is brighter. Interesting to see the different contrast when the viewer moves about. I like the golden grass in the FG, looks wonderful. The colour enhancement is wonderful. The black strip is not distracting for me; I think it supports the photo well. I think the white speck in the sky is a plane? The Sydney skyline is beautiful; I like how you have positioned Sydney tower in the middle of the frame. If you had shown less of the skyline to the left and more of the right you may have been able to include the Opera House and bridge in. But this is still fine. I hope you enjoyed your visit to this marvellous city.

Matt

Hi Anton,
The city rises from the sea of yellow and I love the contrast of the yellow field and the dark city. An eye catching image, nicely done.

Hi Anton,

you did excellent work here. I like chosen POV showing us Sydney cityscape completely revealed, a display of architectural wonders alltogether with a marvelous yellow field in foreground. Blue city rising from yellow sea. Great combination of two complementary colours together creating harmony. Excellent!

Kind regards,
Jeri

The POV is simply beautiful and gives an excellent idea of the Sydney downtown. The only thing I like less is the very dark sky.
Antonio

Hi Anton
wonderful picture. The contrast between yellow field and the city is great. Very good POV. Well done.

Hello Anton,
top quality here for this great shot! The yellow in the bg is so damn well contrasting the deep blue/dark of the sky adding a nice dramatic tone to the scene. Great light management!
Thanks for sharing and regards

Bonjour Anton
Contraste étonnant que tu nous proposes là. Un premier plan sauvage et coloré, un arrière plan bétonné, rempli de buildings Très bien vu !

the contrast of the colors are great, I loved the combination.

Powerful contrast in the picture with strong colours. I really love the composition
Best wishes,
Achim

A beautiful shot, of course. You seem to have gone to a great deal of trouble to arrange your location and POV, and judging by the result I'd say you've been well rewarded. Lovely shot.

Hello Anton. I've never seen Sydney from this viewpoint. It's a beauty! I agree with the comment about the frame, it's not really necessary, and the upper sky is too dark for a black band. However, the compostion and the colour and light are superb. I like the classical rule of thirds composition and the PP you have done to give this shot so much impact. Well done.
Regards,
Andrew

Bonjour Anton,
I am happy to discover your gallery. You already have many of very beautiful photos. This evening, I stop on this one. It is really extraordinary in the originality and the realization. A city which grows in a golden field, I find it fantastic!
Great shot
Bravo
Diane

Anton,
This is simply marvelous. And again, per the style I've come to associate with your work, you've managed to retain the simplicity and warmth of the subject.
Thanks a lot for sharing!

Goldy

Hi Anton,
striking photo,
great contrast between gold and blue;foreground-background.
Amazing view.
Horatiu

Hi Anton,
What a great perception of the city set behind the field, taken at a low POV. The colours are just marvellous. I am not good with PP, just wondering how you managed to create a dark gradation of the sky which is really interesting.

Alfred

Une ville champignon semblant prise en sandwich entre le jaune et le bleu. L'impression qui s'en dégage est très agréable
