Photographer’s Note

Evening view of central Melbourne and Yarra river. Flinders Street train station can be seen on the river bank.
Taken from the Kings Bridge at 19:27 soon before sunset and about one hour before heavy thunderstorm.
Camera settings: 44 mm zoom, AV mode, ISO-200.

Hi Linas,
What a lighting condition, giving bright and saturated coulours against a very dark and menacing background. I like the composition opposing buildings on the left to cyclone like cloud shape on the right.

this city looks great when there are such clouds and sunlight appearing in combination. The high buildings are surely important to glance at but the yellow of the small boat and church are the best things to notice

Fascinating lighting! Both the buildings and the boat's wake make nice diagonals, and the building colors are also strong. Good capture.

Excellent shot with its unique contrasts and perfect sharpness. Colors, reflection on canal is gorgeous with waves while boat leaving. Dark sky is increase the contrasts all over frame. Wonderful, congratulations.

Well captured. Not often that you have good lighting for the foreground with a thunderstorm approaching to make a great background. Overall, a very nice composition.

The light is incredible, possibly the best I've seen from the centre of Mel, the tall bldg at right and the train station seem a litle too bright, but everything else is swell.

Great shot! I like the pov, the composition and above all, that fantastic stormy sky. Great moment to shoot.Light is very good also in spite of the weather and that little yellow boat is a good detail.

What an amazing light ! The buildings seem so sharp and the colours really jump out. And for once the Yarra isn't brown ;-)
The boat is very cute and is perfectly placed in the foreground.

These really are magic moments for anyone but of course even more so for the photographer. You captured this one very elegantly. The vale grey strip (centre right) seems a bit out of place, as if the clouds were wiped with a sponge. Distracting at first but it helps the trees standing out. Well done.

Very nice cityscape. I like the viewpoint as well as the colors. The dark clouds add some drama.
