Photographer’s Note

The Burrup Peninsula hosts the largest collection of petroglyphs in Australia. Litteraly tens of thousands of engravings cover the deep red stone outcrops.
The subjects range from familiar animals (turtles, lizards, fish,...) to human activities (hunting,...)... though it is very hard to know how ancient they are, they are for sure an essential part of Australia's cultural heritage.
They have just very recently (July 3rd 2007) been put on the "National Heritage List"

The photo has been taken with my zoom set at max(12x). If you take a careful look at the scene you will notice several engravings... and at least the (upper) central one showing a hunter (or a soldier?)
