Yesterday I visited the city of Adelaide, South Australia with a friend. We went into the Adelaide Arcade for a drink. When I had a good look around I realised how pretty this old architecture is and decided to take some photos to show it to the rest of you.

Adelaide Arcade was built in 1885 and comprised of 50 shops. Nowadays it boasts a diverse range of over 100 specialty retail outlets on the ground floor and balcony level. It took only five months to build and a further two months to occupy, with the letting and fitting out of the shops enabling Adelaide Arcade to be completed by December 1885. Ornamental cast iron from Messers Fulten & Co was used extensively and marble slabs flanking the entrances were supplied by the Kapunda Quarries.

The whole building was illuminated by electric light and was one of the first buildings in Adelaide to use electric lighting.

The design of Adelaide Arcade was by Withall & Wells, is the most important piece of their work to survive.

Cheers,
Debbie

Hi Debbie,
A neat and clean view of the arcade, I like the symmetry of it, and the good POV and well chosen vertical framing. Colors are bright and vivid, sharpness is ec=xcellent.. it looks like the girl in black in FG right side have spotted you!

Hi Debbie, this is a great long shot on your part of the Arcade. Great composition and lighting.

The design looks very similar to the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney. The tiles, lamps and railing almost look like they were sourced from the same place. Well done. I wonder if Withall and Wells had anything to do with the QVB.

Thanks, John

Hi Debbie,
Excellent view.Lovely colours and light as well.Beautiful symmetrical capture.Very well done.

Hi Debbie,
I like your point of view here, perfectly symmetric, high enough to see everything and low enough not to loose interesting details of the interior.
The place looks very elegant and decent, with very distinctive floor pattern.

Hallo Debbie!
An interesting view with an astonishing depth. I like the wonderful pattern of the floor very much and all the colours are in a good fit. A somehow cosy arcades ... a beautiful place!
Greetings from Germany!

...it looks like the girl in black in FG right side have spotted you!... and that girl is beautiful :)
Your high POV is also very nice, giving you depth and perfect perspective. I can see how a detailed work you performed, you even considered keeping the clock in the frame (i think it was 15:45). Sharpness adds joy to the myraids of details, and it turned out to be a rather interesting photo. Cheers,
Deniz

Hi Deb,
Excellent image of this very lovely Arcade. I love all the lines and symetry and the patterns on the floor are lovely. I like the view of the tables with people sitting enjoying a coffee and walking, adds a lot of interest. Excellent sharpness and details and good colours. Very well done and TFS
Cheers Tina :-)

Hello Debbie,
A lovely symmetrical image with great light and clarity. The repeating motifs on the floor tiles are great and I like the couple holding hands and looking up at the camera. Excellent colours and definition. Good work.

Ciao Debbie.Nice work with all the intricate patterns and shapes. Excellent Pov and the human interest is also high with everyone doing his or her thing.Lovely control of light. Well done. Regards. Klaudio.

Hello Debbie,
To be honest I think this is your best shot to date. The colours and sharpness is terrific, and I think the composition is spot on. The young couple looking up at the photo is a nice touch. Thanks for sharing,
Jules

Hello Debbie -

This is a well seen composition. I like the graphism of the tile work on the floor as it adds depth and is a nice visual element. There are several leading lines in this image just drawing the viewers eyes inward to explore. All of the technical stuff looks to be spot on. Well done!

Thank you for sharing.

John

Debbie,
The perspective is very nice in this one.
I liek a lot too your framing choices, and the geometrics on the floor.
Very pleasant,
Regards,
JB.

Hi Debbie,
It's indeed a charming place and you captured it very nicely. The pov is great, it's shows much life and technically is amazing - great sharpness and clarity indoor. Very well done.
Cheers, José.

Hi Debbie, A superb indoor shot with excellent control of the light, very well composed with the clock at the top centre, wonderfully balanced photo showing great detail, I think you were seen by more than just the girl, kind regards Wilson.

Hi Debbie,
That's a clean and deep interior picture with a good feeling of symetry just broken by the people, you found the right pov here, but got noticed by at least two ladies, ah thoise noisy shutters ;-)
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi , Debbie .
Very nice old faschioned atmosphere preserved here !
Beautiful ornamentation of the floor , great colours and perspective !
Well seen , Debbie !
Greetings
Dorte.

Hi Debbie,

I love the symmetry in your shot, the pov is just perfect. Lovely sharp colours and you've managed the inside light very well. It seems the girl in the foreground has spotted you, funny how some people just have to get into a shot isn't it? :-) A fine capture...oh, I love it that you have the clock in frame too.

Regards

Stephen

Avery inviting view that you are showing us here, Debbie. It certainly is a nice place to have a rest, but also a nice place to explore with the camera. You were detected with your "malicious" intentions. The lady is looking up and smiling into your lens. Good connection with the "victim".
