Photographer’s Note
3 May 2007, Yarra River, Melbourne
A man cycles home along the north bank of the Yarra River, across from the university boat sheds and the Royal Botanic Gardens. The Yarra cuts through the middle of Melbourne and forms a natural "north/south" divide before emptying into Port Phillip Bay.
You might be forgiven for thinking that this is taken far away from the city, or possibly a small country town but this is the heart of Australia's Second City, an impressive concrete skyline lies behind this vantage point, north of the river.

If I am not mistaken this is just behind the boat clubs, south of the Royal Melbourne Botanical Gardens...if true, back in '79-80 my wife and I used to live in a tiny bedsitter ~15 min bike ride away. Nostalgia.

Nice quiet and relaxed feel to the shot, even with the motion blur. A nice atmosphere also created through the grey clouds and the reddish lighting.
