Photographer’s Note
An unusually shaped bilabong in Kakadu. The circles are cause by lily pads growing in the bilabong.

I've never been to Australia and never knew any part of it looked like this! I love the blue of the water surrounded by the green trees- the billabong itself reminds me of one of those agate stones that you can buy sometimes at roadside shops. I've heard the word "billabong" before in the context of Australia, but never knew what one was. Thanks for sharing from your part of the world.
Have you considered cropping it in some? I think cropping closer would be good- the trees at the bottom and top feel like excess.

Hi James
Very interesting colors in this bilabong.
Almost like an oasis in the middle of all these trees.

Wow amazing. This has to be in the list of the most beautiful places in Australia. I am in awe there is not much else you can describe about this place. ( it's just the effect that the NT has on people )
Great

Wow. Even if the saturation is very high (almost glowing) I can see that this is no ordinary brown pool! It must have something to do with mineral deposits as most of Kakadu's water is coloured nothing like this! The ring effects are outstanding. Might it be an effect from bluegreen algae (a type of cyanobacteria) which can cause this colouring, it is not uncommon her in Queensland. One thing is for sure, I would not swim in it, there must be crocodiles in there for sure! Great picture.

Hi James,
This is a unique sight, one I've never seen before. You have managed the composition perfectly in this aerial shot. Colors and the contrast the blue creates is dazzling.
Best wishes,
Hakan

Howdy James,
This is rather a different shot! Interesting PoV too. Were you airborne, or is there a high lookoff nearby? Tfs, Jay

Hello James!
I had never heard of billabongs before, so I have learnt something new and interesting thanks to your picture.
I am amazed at the perfect round shape and the bright blue colour. What is it caused by?
Is it only the sky reflexion?
TFS.

Hey James,
I remember seeing a photo of this in a travel book on Australia. The colours are fantastic, very very interesting. Where were you when you took this photo? I love how you can't see any development surround this bilabong. How far is the nearest semblance of civilization?
Regards,
David
