Photographer’s Note
This photo is taken from a small section of the Fisherman's Wharf Market, located in Port Adelaide.
Fisherman's Wharf Market, as the name would suggest, is a converted warehouse located on the Port River, approximately 12km north-west of Adelaide CBD. Although recently renovated and improved, the warehouse - like so many other parts of port adelaide - is quite dilapidated and has its own unique "run-down" charm.
The Market has plenty of stalls selling arts and crafts, bric-a-brac, gourmet foods, second hand goods, books and many other unique and interesting items and is only open on Sunday's.
The warehouse was used for storage from nearby ships up until the early 1980's, then became abandoned for a good 10 to 15 years. The other similar warehouses located closeby to the one in the photo have been recently demolished and turned into upscale apartments.
For more history on Port Adelaide see my other post here.

Hello Julian! I like the rusty feeling here, and so sad that they switch it for upscale flats ... happens everywhere and very fast, hard to follow sometimes, and what comes has no character. Nice work, I like it. Barbara.

Hi Julian,
I like very much this kind of compo, for its geometric simplicity and the wealth of textures.
I think it's great just like it is, but I wonder if it wouldn't get more punch with more colour saturation. I bet that it would also look great in B&W.
Regards, José.

Hi Julian,
I like this! The textures and faded colours are especially nice. Well composed and I like the detail of the writing on the door. Well seen.

Hi Julian,
Here around Istanbul and namely Turkey, we people like a lot taking photos of textured façades, and it is interesting to see that it is somehow the same also in Australia. Your composition is really good and would be great with the inclusion of a bike, or a cat, or a man etc.
Cheers,
Deniz

main switch room? i just hope that has nothing to do with electricity...considering the way the building looks from the outside. *g*
simple, but wonderful composition, julian! :-)
the run-downiness with the rust and the faded colors is terrific, hope you´ll show us more from there.
well seen & captured, thorsten.

Hi Julian
A simple, but highly effective photo with great textures. The framing is well seen and I think you did right not to enhance the saturation at this would go against the delapidated impression that the subject of this photo gives.
Best wishes

Hi Julian,
Very classic framing and image here. Nicely done. I guess old doors like this are always intriguing to me. Of course, I always wonder what is on the other side. Cheers, Paul.
