Today I went for a trip to Hahndorf with a couple of friends. It is not far from my hometown of Balhannah. It was extremely hot but at least the sky was a lovely blue and there weren't as many tourist there as usually is the case.

History of Hahn:

On 12 August 1838, the ship Zebra captained by the Captain Dirk Hahn departed from Altona, Hamburg for its voyage to Port Misery, South Australia, arriving on 28 December 1838. The Zebra was the third ship after the Bengalee and Prince George that brought Prussian Lutheran migrants to South Australia. The founders of Hahndorf came from these three ships, many from the Zebra. On arrival and inspection, the migrants were very pleased and impressed with their newly acquired land.

Hahndorf was named after Captain Dirk Hahn in honour of his efforts in securing good land. "dorf" translated from German into English means, "village". Today, some German tourists are somewhat bemused by the name, to the confusion of local residents. This is apparently due to the most literal translation of the town's name being "rooster-village".
Information from Wikipedia

The Old Mill (the building photographed):
Located at 98 Main Street this old flour mill was built in 1853 and operated continuously crushing everything from mill to quartz and bone for fertiliser until 1912 when it closed down. In recent times it has been used as the Old Mill Restaurant which is part of the Old Mill motel.

The photo:
Resized, sharpened, selected parts of the roof and adjusted brightness, cloned out a street sign, and added the border.

Cheers,
Debbie

Hello Debbie,
Good pov on this fine old mill surrounded by greenery. The roof seems to be a bit over exposed as there is hardly any detail in it, otherwise colours are fine. Good sharpness.

Your POV is good and provides nice diagonals across the shot. The cmopo is neat with the kerb starting in the bottom left hand corner. The image is nice and sharp.
Best wishes
Mark

Helo Debi

Exellent work
Cheers,Braca

Debbie,
This is a nice shot of this old mill. You created some nice diagonals with the street and sidewalk. The colors are great although the roof seems to be a bit overexposed but the rest of the photo is fine.
TFS,
Asa

Hello Debbie,
very good POV and contrasting blue sky. Nice diagonal composition. Interesting note.
Well done. Best regards,
Andrzej

Hi Deb,
Great composition! Good POV as is the sharpness and details! Nice contrast of colours and a good job of the cloning! I like the framing too! TFS
Cheers Tina :-)

Hi Debbie
Very good compo and POV
Well done/Regards

It's many years, too long, since I visited Hahndorf. The photo is really sharp with excellent detail on the stonework. The inclusion of the woman emerging is really good, it makes the photo more interesting and emphasised tne angled perspective. There is a little overexposure of the roof, but this was obviously a difficult shot to take. Better to slightly underexpose it and rely on software to fix that aspect. Good shot, though.
Regards,
Andrew
