This is one of 92 ceramic sculptures in the William Ricketts sanctuary in the Dandenong mountains.
William Ricketts lived and worked at Mt Dandenong from 1934 to 1993. His lifes artistic work was transfromed by his years of contact with the desert people of the Pitjantjara and Arrernte whose indeigenous culture inspired his major creative output. He lived in the sanctuary until his peaceful death in 1993, aged 94. He believed that the natural enviroment is entrusted to us all and by nurturing the earth, we nurture life.
Deeply felt cconnections to the earthly mother and the spirit of the land are explered in 92 ceramic sculptures of people and animals which merge with the natural surroundings.
-taken from the sanctuary's brochure.
In this shot you can see the mixture of Aboriginal and western figures and religions aswell as animals. All his sculptures merge with the rocks and trees to look as one in the forest.
The sanctuary is about an hours drive outside Melbourne.

Hello wanda. What an interesting idea to have sculptures adorning the forest. I like the style and imagery seen here. Good colors and perspective with the dark forest in the background. Good picture. TFS.

Hi Wanda, the texture and colours of the stones have been well captured in this low light shot. which overall has good composition, pov and good use of the space available. There's a mystical qulaity to the image. Nice job.

Amazing scultptures. I've seen similar things in some new age communities in california. Clearly this person was very much rooted to the earth. Very interesting shot.

Hallo Wanda!
It is very interesting place. Art in forest? Very interesting. Good night photo, I like your light and colours.

An interesting sculpture Wanda, and your composition and framing are good here.
I don't think using flash was the right move though. The light is a bit harsh and it's use has also resulted in the background going too dark. I appreciate that you had to work with the film that you had in your camera at the time, and you probably had no alternative to using flash. I think if you had used a longer shutter speed to allow some of the ambient light to illuminate the backgound, and also reduced the output of the flash, this would have worked better.
If you have this kind of shot in mind in future, then using a fast film would allow you to take this kind of shot in poor light without flash. I'm a recent convert to Ilford Delta 3200. It's great stuff!

Cheers,
Ben
