[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My first shot with my newly purchased 24-105L lens, my first L lens and something which I am not sure I should have purchased, purely due to the cost involved.

So with a setting sun on a cloudy day, I didn't get much of a chance to test it out too much, but managed to snap this on my walk home from work.

A little spooky, probably that's the distorted human shadow that gives it (reminiscent of german expressionist cinema, Murnau, etc.)but very nice, it reminds me one of my experiments, in front of my house, on film noir.

merry Xmas
(I see you have anticipated the box opening signal.. on my part I know my 5D will have a little brother... much smaller...)

Bonsoir Brendan,
très belles teintes et graphisme excellent dans cette photo d'apparence "simple". J'aime beaucoup ce résultat. Beau travail

24-105 on the 30D? Hmmmmm Id think twice about that, 17-40L seems a better fit just doe to the crop factor...

Spooky shot, Luko is right, but a gerat use of shadows and reflections.

Hello Brendan,

You got excellent result with your new lens. I liked your B&W work especially shadow of visitor and sign. Repeated squares at façade and its dirty surface are adding great value. Congratulations.

I would like to wish to you and your family a joyful and peaceful holiday season, and a prosperous New Year.

Best Regards,

Ertugrul

regards, m.

Hi Brendan,
Impressive eye to see this opportunity !
I like this b/w conversion and the power of the shadows.
A great picture!
Christophe

This tricky, moody image which reveals itself as if all at once but then slowly reveals itself is a winner for me Brendan.....I could spend time with a gallery full of images like this and come away feeling happy (and thoughtful)...best wishes Kev

Nice compositon & great use of the shadows here, as already pointed out it's suggestive & open to interpretation by the viewer. Good shot.

Hello, Brendan--
Nice work, the composition is very nice and dramatic, with the sharply angled lines of the wall providing a good dynamic feel to it. The shadows are very strong, with the sign dwarfing the figure, giving a good moody feeling.
Thanks!
saam

Hi Brendan, a nice play with the shadow, really like it... Don't worry I had the same feeling when I bought it and still happy with it...

I like the play of shadows, all the time, but this one is particularly graphic and delicious. A very nice work, a bit like good old Nosferatu, somewhat holding us in suspense!
Have a beautiful Christmas and happy New Year!

Hello Brendan,
Excellente scène de rue.
J’adore ici cet énorme ombre et ces contrastes bien appuyés.

You are on fire these days, Brendan, and it's a personal thrill to see these extremely creative images pop up one after the other.
Great title, superb first shot with the 24-105, a top class B/W, moody, spooky piece of artistry from downunder.
Happy New Year mate!
Francis

great image Brendan. I like the shadows on the wall of course : ) and the refelction of the man on it also.
As Luko, I had the same feeling of looking at german expressionnist movie scene.
Brilliant
