Photographer’s Note
The Yarra River on which the city of Melbourne is situated, is usually a murky brown colour, though you would not know in this pohoto. I did not have my tripod, so I just rested the camera on the bridge, which worked pretty well. It only needed a little bit of sharpening.

Hi Robert,
excellent one. I like this enlighted city view with the river as the leading line. Wonderful composition and technical management.

Hi Rob, very nice shot of the Yarra. You've made it look good. You have very good colour and control with the lights yet captured the sky and buildings very nicely. Very well done. Someday I'm going to need to get to Melbourne and the Yarra for a night shot. This is great.
Thanks, John

I am a sucker for dusk/night shots, and this is a very pretty one. Dynamic composition with the sweeping riverside walk on the left, and lots of different areas of colour and detail to keep me interested. The reflections are nice, too. Well done for a half second exposure semi-handheld. A trick I sometimes use is if you can balance the camera on something, and use the camera strap for adjusting tilt, you can use the self timer for long exposures without touching the camera! It only works with point and shoots, since the SLR shutter shakes the camera too much, and the weight of the lens makes it hard to balance.
Thanks for sharing.
Andrew, "Boots".

Excellent night shot Robert, with wonderful control of the light, colours and exposure. I like the way you have selected your PoV to include the reflections in the mirror-like water and the way you have kept detail and colour in the sky. Your improvised tripod really did the job! Well done

Hi Robert.
A magic capture and very impressive without a tripod. The detail and sharpness captured is very god and the balance in the shot is good.
I would suggest cropping out that metal thing in the left of the shot as it is a little distracting.

Hi Robers,
A beautiful dusk view. City lights have lots of different colours, and that makes this quite dynamic. Looks quite peaceful, although there must be lot of life on those skyscrapers.
