[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I try to get up before the sun comes up so that I can get the morning light shinning through all my waves.
But if the day is not perfect do not waste the whole day hoping that the light will get any beter. I start at 6am and the light just is not as good after 7am.
Take care Richard.

Hi Richard,

Amazing photo! Great capture of the wave... i can somehow feel its power. It would be nice if there's a surfer under that wave... that will definitely make one feel the size of the wave.

Cheers!

Great shot! I'd crop out the rocks in the foreground.

Richard I always love how you are able to capture that special lighting effects from inside the wave. So very many colors come through with the sunshine at a low angle. I really like this wave capture. Excellent work indeed. Thanks for sharing!

Richard

Wow, amazing photo! The "eye" of the wave seems surreal. The clarity and colour is amazing to see. Even at 1/2000 th, the wave looks to be in motion. Your early morning venture was well worth the effort. Congrats. I could see this photo in poster size as part of Oz marketing - to heck with the cuddly koala!

B erutiful image I like the colors deep in the wave. Have you tried to crop the bottom rocks?

Well it's definitely worth it, getting up so early. The light really makes the shot fantastic. So powerful and scary but at the same time so appealing.

I love the power of the wave that you've captured here Richard, as well as the colours and sharpness, but i'm not too sure about including the rocks in the photo. They seem to take away from the beauty of the wave.

Wow! Awesome wave Ric! That looks like a mean as reef..wouldnt like to get grated on that!!
Regards

Paul

Hi Richard,

I certainly do like the lighting, which brings out a fantastic colour in the wave. Your timing and composition are great too. I'm so so sure about the out-of-focus, distracting elements in the foreground, though.

Hi Richard,
I love the power of the wave that you have captured here. Initially, I thought that the rocks were off-putting; however, I then looked at the thumbnail again, and I saw a perception that I didn't see earlier. I'm glad that you have left them in, because the more I look at the bigger picture I see a greater sense of perception about the wave, its size, it's power, and the very energy behind such a wave. The darkness of the rocks also highlights the special effect of the sunlight in the crest of the wave. A wonderful capture. Thank you!

bravo! excellent photo and colours!

Hi Richard,
What a beautiful wave you captured here. I felt in love with the ocean in Australia long ago, your picture brings me nice memories. I agree with some other comments about the distracting rocks (?) on the foreground, maybe the picture would be better without them.

Daniel
