Photographer’s Note
This shot was taken on the way from the Jenolan caves. This little eastern grey Kangaroo was sitting by the road and as we pulled up he inched closer ending up basically trying to push his nose into the car. (S)he ( i would love it if anyone knows the gender of this animal) was pretty small and very cute, and (S)he was very curious.
The repost includes the making of a frame ( fits with the other of this travelogue) And a general lightening and color balance to warm and brighten the shot as SMAEL sugested. Hope yo like it:)
Kangaroo
The word kangaroo derives from the Guugu Yimidhirr (an Australian Aboriginal language) word gangurru, referring to a grey kangaroo.
Southern and eastern Australia support a population of several million Eastern Grey Kangaroos. The scientific name, Macropus giganteus is misleading, as while a big Eastern Grey male weighs around 66 kg and stands almost 2 m tall, the Red Kangaroo of the semi-arid inland is bigger still.
Eastern Greys are easy to recognise: their soft grey coat is distinctive, and they are usually found in moister, more fertile areas than the Red. Alternative names for the species include Great Grey Kangaroo and Forester.
In more remote areas, Eastern Greys occur in great numbers and if left unchecked reach plague proportions. From time to time shooters are employed to reduce their numbers, almost always to the accompaniment of a public outcry. Given the very limited amount of fodder in dry years, however, the only other choice is starvation.
Shot has been adjusted in levels and sharpened.

Darling picture, Cato, we saw lots of 'roos on the way to the Jenolan Caves ourselves. The curiosity on its face is irresistable - looks like a girl to me, LOL!
Have a great rest of your weekend,
Alli

Hello Cato,
I like the composition on your image. It is very original and opens space for reading the image. This version is far much better than the original one !
Strange animal with a funny attitude and nice shot !
Best regards. Christian

Hi Cato,
I love this kind of animal's pictures!! :) The kangaroo looks so harmlessy and friendly... and he has beautiful eyes... Interesting frame and good DOF.
Best regards,
Andrzej
PS. It is impossibly to recognize the gender of this animal, because you have croped the picture too high! ;))

Hello Cato,
le genre de photo qui me plait, les portraits aniamliers, quand ils savent prendre une mimique ou des traits un peu 'humains'.
C'est charmant.
Bien à toi.
Daniel.

Hi Cato,
This is so "Australia", isn't it? What can I say, we have been brainwash with "Skippy the Bush Kangaroo", I guess...
I really like the tight frame, here! I see curiosity in its eyes (or is it mine reflected?). And I almost see its nose moving, trying to smell you. Your PP is a lot better here. Colors are more interesting and appealing.
Now... I have that Skippy tune in my mind! Grrrrr! ;)

Hi Cato,
One of the best roo photos I've seen, it's that priceless expression. It looks like a little old man to me; a bit fearful but still hopeful that things will turn out okay.
I really fell in love with these fellows on my visit to OZ, to my favs.
Regards, Pat
