Photographer’s Note

Spotted this antique street lamp on a visit to the Caribbean Market in Rowville, an eastern suburb of Melbourne. I liked the detail on the actual post, and the contrast between the unusual green of the lamp post and the sky.

A simple, but very fine shot, Ray. I like very much your upward-looking view of this beautiful streetlamp, and your angle cleverly uses the different parts of the lamp to create a diagonal composition. The intricate detail on the lamppost and the "bulbs" is very well seen, and makes indeed a fine contrast against the deep blue sky. The sky looks just slightly noisy; maybe trying to save the picture with less JPEG compression would help to that end (I noticed this shot only uses 71KB of your 200KB allowance). Well done!
