Kooraminya Creek Gorge Photo

Photographer’s Note

Kooraminya Creek is one of several dozen side gorges in Carnarvon Gorge National Park. The walls of the canyon here are about 200 metres high (600'). I liked the unusual pov, & the arching curve at the top. 30 metre high palms in the foreground valley, reach up towards 25 metre high eucalypt trees, leaning over the precipice.

Interesting double-take effect here, using such a bright sharp relection, and jsut a little of the rocks for framing. Nice work.

Effet saisissant très bien réalisé pour indiquer la hauteur de ce canyon, où les strates de la roche sont bien visibles. Les palmiers se détachent joliment sur ce ciel d'un bleu très pur.

Cool angle and perspective in this one, Chris. Vivid colors and nice juxtapositioning between the trees and the steep canyon wall. Technically I'm not 100% convinced by the slightly smudgy / pixellated appearance of some portions where the sky meets the greenery, but otherwise a good take.

I like this a lot! The unusual view, looking straight up, is kind of mind bending and makes you think about things in a different way. The cliff face curving around is a nice touch. Well done!

At first I thought it was a reflection. But I'd say it is pretty unique way to get that claustrophobic effect of being inside a gorge. Hi Chris...it is always good to see old photos from your travel collection. This one was taken 1981, half my life time ago. Terima Kasih.
