Photographer’s Note
Panorama from Mt Oberon in 2003. I revisited this park in 2005 after the Easter fire, and almost every piece of vegetation seen here has been barbecued. I did not go up to the summit again, so I have no "after" photos, and the ones I took in 2005 were using slide film and all came out very very very dark. I am adding a large version, but not much larger because these are home scans and the stitch was not good. Stitched from 3 photos. Very hot end of November day with no wind. This is a stitch that includes this photo I uploaded many months ago.
Wilsons Promontory Fire 2005
On 1 April 2005 a fire near Tidal River in Wilsons Promontory National Park reignited ten days after a planned burn was conducted. The fire burnt approximately 6200 hectares of the park, from Tidal River to Waterloo Bay in the east and the Lightstation to the south.

Nice panorama shot with a great view, however the saturation is just a bit too much for me in this shot, especially the green.

great shot, Tan! I like the details, the vivid colors, even if a bit too saturated, but even so.. a magnificent panaroma!

Well yes, on one side the very high (OK, a bit too high) color saturation and the pixelation resulting, I presume, from the poor quality of the home scan make the image look slightly artificial. On the other side however, it is a very eye catching photo that one could easily see being used for a Coca-Cola commercial or similar. Wish I was there.

Hey Tan. You know how much I love the deep saturation of your shots. I'm working on my first panoramic post ever with one from Crater Lake. Good job assembling them together seamlessly. Nice shot Tan!!

Tan,
Quel superbe endroit avec ces couleurs paradisiaques de la mer!le panoramique est bien réalisé mais je trouve la saturation des couleurs un peu trop poussée quand même

Hello Tan,
I willl go there in April 2006 and I bet it will be green again. Fantastic landscape with striking colours due to polariser and Fuji Reala. Very well done. TFS Thomas

Hi Tan
You characteristic high contrast shot is always good to see. The colours are nice and rich and the sweeping view is great. I don't stitch photos myself as they never come out well for me, must be my ancient software it's 1000 years old now. But your stitched work is great! With all that stitching, you'll be making clothes next!!
Well done, great shots

Hello Tan
Excellent panorama, I like the circular formations shown in it. It looks like one of those postacrds used to draw more people into a place,
really rich colours. Well done
How are preparations going for Arabia?

I like the saturated colours and big contrast, which I think gives this a lot of eye-appeal. The water, moving from light blue through to very dark blue is beautiful, and that little section of beach tucked away there looks like a hidden gem. Great work!

Hi Tan
A spectacular vista & a place I have been in 1980. I've loaded a shot from here. It appears a little red to the right on my monitor. You were lucky with the weather. It was cloudy, when I was on Mt Oberon.

Hi Tan
Shame to hear about the fire but hopefully nature will regenerate the landscape with time. Just the kind of stunning view we're used to seeing from you; the PP or scanning has left the colours a bit oversaturated and the contrasts are exaggerated to look a bit artificial but otherwise a fabulous piece of work. When are you off to Arabia? I hope you are enjoying the 20D!

Hi Tan,
What vivid colours and tones! I like the panorama format here, with the rich verdant greenery in the foreground to lead the eye down to the sea. The layers of brown beach, tropical green water, and then steel blue/aquamarine hues are mesmerizing. Well captued, Tan. A feast for the eyes...

Hi Tan
Another shot of one of my favourite places. I used to go camping at Tidal River every summer holidays when I was a kid. I really want to take Toni sometime but we mostly go to OZ at the wrong time of year. I really like the composition with the great view of Norman Bay and Tidal River. The sky is excellent too. I personally love the colours being my favourites although the fact that they're over-saturated gives an unatural look to the place. The Prom is not exactly tropical ;-)

Hello Tan,
wow, what a stunner! It is an explosion of colours and a superb panorama that you have made. Congrats! The only minor regret is the disturbance on the water on the left, but there was of course nothing to do about it.
Thanks and best regards,

Hi Tan, This one has wonderfully saturated emerald tones that I often appreciate in your pictures. It also features very nice clouds shadows over the sea. They are amazingly darker than in your earlier post.

Hi Tan.
You're the best with landscapes. You do them in a great way and that's because you can manage how you want the light. Like this one!!!
Wonderful place, yes, but your photo enhances the beauty of it.
Well done.
