Photographer’s Note

Victoria's Great Ocean Road is a truly awe inspiring drive. Countless points along the road provide breath-taking views such as this one. Sandstone cliffs have worn away due to weather and ocean works. As the walls wear away arches such as this one are created. In time, this arch will collapse creating an isolated island off the shore. In this manner the more famed 12 Apostles were created.

Great Ocean Road itself was created over 14 years (1918-1932) to connect the towns of Lorne to Geelong. Often toted as the largest war monument in the world, the road was carved out of the cliffs by the returning servicemen after the war.
Today, drivers are greeted along the way by Koalas, and Kangaroos, and beautiful beach side towns.
