Well I thought I had posted my best looking firework shot with my last upload. However while going through my photos again I found a better one, so although I only had the intention to load one fireworks photo, I have to upload this second one.

hey brendan.

i commented on your other shot ... and i agree that this photo is better. the framing is nice and tight. the reflections on the water are very solid and striking. colour in this photo is great.

This is an excellent firework shot. The timing is great, the exposure spot on, and the framing just right. You have caught good reflections in the water and the smoke filled air is well caught too. Excellent stuff.

One of the things that I like the most in the New Years Eve is fireworks.

This is great one, but I also like the one in Sidney a lot.

Wow it's just superb, glad you posted this one as well as the spreading of the colors and the freeze of the movement is excellent, I see f/6.3, what was the speed and the program you used ? I have to try it some day... need to wait for july 14th I guess !

Hi Brendan - this one is indeed better, the fireworks fill the sky, the reflections are brighter and there's even something shooting up from the ground.

I've tried to get some shots of fireworks like this- but I'm NEVER happy with my results. i guess fireworks just aren't my forte.

Great shot! I've always been a sucker for fireworks shots, and this is a cracker :)

A couple of things stand out though - firstly I'd be inclined to add a 1px black border before the white to keep the image "in" if you see what I mean? Secondly, the reflections at the bottom of the image splay outwards - a little perspective correction would probably fix that. Finally, not sure about the effect of all that smoke on the buildings - they've lost sharpness (either that or they're slightly OOF), perhaps consider a little selective dodging/burning or a gradient fill layer to bump the contrast back up, or a bit of selective sharpening depending on what the cause is.

Anyway, that said, a lovely capture :D

Hello Brendan,
This is a very good shot of a firework. Not only because the exposure of the firework is perfect, but essentially because you to the buildings and their reflections at the same time. I love the smoky transition between the firework and the city. Excellent.
