Photographer’s Note

Visitors to Wilson's Promontory National Park ought to recognize these granite boulders sitting beside Tidal River.

A couple of weeks ago a raging bushfire from a "controlled burn" tore through much of The Prom. I don't know how much of it looks like this anymore.

[edit] No, the river is actualy this colour! It's a tidal estuary and the honey-brown tint is from tannins coming from vegetation upstream.

I like the composition with the boulders looking like a whales mouth (my wife recognizes them) and the beautiful tea coloured water of the river. The rock on the right is a bit burnt.

What a lovely composition, it's like a gold river, this colour is beautiful. I also like this purple colour of the rocks, sad that a fire may be ruined this nature.
Did you post the photo as it was taken or did you make a lot of work on it?

Great picture: The zenith lighting renders tender greens and
interesting shadows. I like the point of view and composition.
Although, I would have cut on the right side to get rid of the overexposed rock.

Hi Simon,
I see from Toni's critic that he showed me this photo before I was registered with TE. This is one of my favourite places as we used to camp for a week every summer when I was a kid. You've captured the "whale" well as well as the unique colour of the water.
