[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is looking west from the east peak of Mt. Cougal. This is a prominent peak in the Gold Coast hinterland. It is a bit of a tough walk to the peak but the views are breathtaking once there. The left side of the mountain is New South Wales and Queensland is to the right. Lamington National Park is visible in the distance. The area consists primarily of lush subtropical rainforest and the best bits are off the beaten track.
This is part of the outer edge of what was once the worlds largest shield volcano (around 22 million years ago) of which Mt. Warning in Murwillumbah was the plug. It went all the way to Beenleigh in Queensland!
By the way, you don’t want to slip once you are on the top.

This was shot on the Pentax ME Super with a 50mm lens (I think) and Fuji Velvia 100F. I used a polarizer and a graduated grey filter to prevent the sky and background features burning out. I scanned this from an Ilfachrome print but I think it turned out a tad dark to the left of the ridge in the middle ground.
