Roofs of Sydney’s Opera House, photo taken from Circular Quay.
Sydney’s Opera House is situated on Bennelong Point in Sydney harbour opposite of Harbour Bridge and close to Royal Botanical Gardens and the Rocks.
The Opera House was designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon and was officially opened on 20 October 1973.
The construction began in March 1959. The Opera House was built in three stages: stage I (1959–1963) consisted of building the upper podium; stage II (1963–1967) the construction of the outer shells; stage III (1967–1973) interior design and construction.
The original cost and scheduling estimates in 1957 projected a cost of 7 million AUD and completion date of 26 January 1963 on Australia Day. In actuality, the project was completed ten years late and more than fourteen times over budget, having final cost of 102 million AUD.
But it became one of the most beautiful modern buildings in the world.

Good close up view of the opera house in Sydney Like the inclusion of the lone lady in the composition to provide sense of scale. The roof shapes present wonderful graphism. The contrast between the blue sky and the roof is very eye-catching. Thanks for sharing a fine photo with warm light and natural colours.

It is always pleasing to see people's interpretation of this iconic building.
I like what you have done here.
You have given the impression that the roof is opening like the soft top on a convertible car.
The details are sharp with a good understanding of the textures. The figure, nicely placed does gives us a sense of the scale.
Have a great day,

Probablement le monument architectural le plus photographié en Australie, et pour cause, il est absolument fantastique, comme des voiles au vent. Le cadrage serré est intéressant.

You've captured the opera house so well, in a fresh new way. The inclusion of the woman and the variety in the sky also add great interest. It's wonderful to see the detail on the roof sections, rather than just the usual 'white' that most photographs show. Super!

A beautiful post of this, most iconic roofline! The deep contrast works so well here, bringing the shadows out wonderfully and emphasizing the design of the roof itself, I have never actually noticed the fine designs inside the roof as I can here. The woman in the composition is nice too, her inclusion makes me smile!
All the best

The tight frame is putting the opera in evidence. The point of view is showing with precision the détails and the colours of the roof of the opera. The good luminosity is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.

Instantly recognizable, and always a pleasure to look upon. Just like the Eiffel Tower, it's a true test to find a new and interesting way of presenting such a famous attraction. I think what you've done here to include the lady in white is just brilliant. Although we know the landmark, the eye is drawn towards that contrast, but in a way, that by no means, takes focus from the main subject...it's the perfect little touch of distinction...and is tremendous for scale. One of these days I'm going to make it there on person, and this image is further inspiration. Have a great day ahead. Take it easy.
