Photographer's Note

Since the Europeans came to Australia and tried to grow fruits and vegetables from other continents, they have been at war with the native birds and marsupials which have developed a taste for imported flora. The wildlife is protected here now, so the only solution is to share with the native creatures or to place nets over everything that is edible: grapes, figs, stone fruit, apples, pears,corn... the list is endless.
Currently my tomato plants, corn and zucchini are covered by netting. Mind you, the possums can rip holes in these fine nets. As I said, it is a battle which is usually won by the native fauna.

The sunflowers I planted for their showy flowers and my intention was to have the rosellas enjoy the seeds.'The bird that has green plumage is a juvenile crimson rosella.
