Photographer’s Note
This shot was taken a few years ago while I was in Syndey for business. The Taronga zoo was a great way to spend a Sunday in Sydney. Just a short ferry trip across Sydney harbour from downtown, takes you right to the lower entrance.
These two young giraffe were enjoying lunch next to their mother.
Post Production: Cropped, shadow brightening, and framing.
I hope you like it!

Quelle belle petite girafe. La lumière et les couleurs sont très belles. Bien vu !

Hi Dan,
Great colours here :)
Very very funny that carrot.
My critique/impression here is that the image is somehow too flat with the fence and the giraffes almost on the same plane with very low amount of background. Maybe a shorter DOF?

anton

Haha, what a fun shot. He looks like he is sucking on a 'lollypop' or 'sigarette'.... very careless. Too bad we cant see the other giraffe. But I love the shot.

Hi Dan, this is a lovely picture of these animals, the fun thing is, is that they are everywhere with their graphic skin, so that it's almost hard to discover what's what.
Very nice milf and soft light, and the one with the carrot in his mouth has an excellent expression, as if he is some sort of old gentleman with a cigar in his mouth.
Very well seen.

Very funny capture. The giraffe seems almost half asleep sort of looking up and saying oh, hey there, to all the people watching and photographing. The depth of field is good here, also, giving a subtle movement into the background. And the colors and details really stand out nicely. I also like the way you captured the three, one looking up, one with the head down and the mother in the back standing tall. It reminds me of three giraffes I captured at the Detroit Zoo last summer. Nice work.

Hi Dan
A lovely amusing shot. The light is great, as is the sharpness. I like the way the other giraffes make a colourful background for the small one, even though you can't see much other than the patterns on them.

Hello Dan,
From the thumbnail, I thought the orange thing was his toung, then I thought back to the time I went to Taronga and saw the deep purple toungs. This is a remarkable shot, even the wooden fence adds a bit of extra volume. Superb postioinig, the crop of the neck of the backgound animal is very well positioned. Stunning clarity, and above all, a most enjoyable subject.

Nice close up for getting details of the girrafe. I also find it funny with one swallowing this carrot.
