Photographer's Note

A little jewel box in the Diamond Cave at Jenolan Caves in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. The crystals are not diamonds, just calcite precipitated when this part of the cave was under water. Jenolan Caves were one of the first caves in the world to be lit by electric light, using hydro-electric power from a local stream.

I did not use a flash because that would produce a photo with no depth. I used the available electric light and slightly underexposed the photo, then used Photoshop to lighten the shadows without burning out the bright parts of the photo.
