Photographer's Note
Weeping Rock Falls is the first fall leading to the much taller Wentworth Falls on Jamison Creek, Blue Mountains. It seems to be deep in the bush, but the town of Wentworth Falls, an offshoot really of Katoomba and Leura, is not far off, and Jamison Creek valley, followed by the Darwin Track, plunges straight through the town.
There's great bushwalking to be had all round this area, with the most spectacular views you could wish for: the vertiginous path down the vertical cliff next to the main Wentworth Falls is good for starters (bear in mind that what goes down must come up!)
We were bushwalking on the day I took this, and therefore I didn't have a tripod with me. To get the veil of falling water needed a couple of seconds exposure, so I had to balance the camera on a very wet rock. Despite a very small aperture, the long shutter speed has burned the sky out too much (another thing I didn't have was an ND filter!); P'shop has done a partial recovery job. So not technically perfect, but I like it. Negative as ever scanned on a Nikon dedicated film scanner @ 3200 ppi, giving a 100mg 16 bit file.

Hello Will
Une chute spectaculaire, bien captée, avec sa teinte blanchâtre contrastant avec la roche rouge.

Hi Will,
This a really well framed shot - I really like the slow shutter speed. Actually I like how you refrained from using a even slower speed to make the effect stronger (I know I would have made that mistake). This speed is just right.
The only negative from my perspective is the sharpness. For some reason I find the leaves in the background too sharp. Strange I know but just seems that way - or it might have something to do with the compressing of the image.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi dear Will
Wentworth Falls are my favourite part of the Blue Mountains. You should be congratulated on lasting the hike (no easy feat) and then taking a good quality shot like this. You did really well to recover what you did with the sky. With these extremes of light and shade, a filter is an absolute must. Good choice of the vertical frame and nice saturation. Thanks for sharing, have a beautiful day.
Warm regards
Lisa

G'day Will,
Your note puts the image, and the making of it, into context. Although you recognise that it is not technically perfect you still had the courage to say you love it and to post it. Thanks for sharing.
Regards,
Trevor
